In my experience as a HVAC contractor and as a HVAC technician for other companies i can safely say it is very important for who you choose to do your air conditioner service. Today i want to talk a bit about honesty in our industry. I remember working for a company and i was doing HVAC for about 4 years at this time. I had a neighbor that i knew for years sense i was about 13 years old. So he asked me if i could come over to his mother in laws house to do a ac maintenance. I said sure but i wanted to go through the company i was working for and i had only been working there for about 2 weeks. So i give them a card and they told me they would give them a call. A week goes by and i figured that they got busy and haven’t called yet as i told the contractor of the company they would and said they wanted me to come out. Well come to find out after work they sent another HVAC technician without me knowing and i get a call from my neighbor saying they wanted her to replace her system. I asked them what was going on with it? He tells me they found a burnt wire connection on the capacitor and they repaired it and now its cooling. So I’m thinking why would that unit need to be replaced? I go out there on my own time and find nothing wrong with the system. Typically why you get a burnt wire on the capacitor is when the previous HVAC technician pulled off the wire to test the capacitor and put it back on without tightening it. I was so upset because i never thought in a million years that this HVAC contractor would do that. To this day years and years later the unit still has never had a problem. The following morning i come into the office and the HVAC technician and the HVAC contractor start questioning me on what i said to the customer and that she had canceled her installation. This was a turning point in my career because i realized just how bad our industry was and later on down the line i found multiple other companies that operated this way. So i quit and looked for another company that believed in being honest and not selling people things they don’t need and i found it very hard a company like that. So in conclusion be very careful in who you pick for your air conditioner service at newtons heating and air conditioning we are committed to being different and i vowed to never be like the companies that worked for and to put honesty over sales.
