Our topic for today: In my experience as a HVAC technician for multiple other companies i can safely say at newtons heating and air conditioning we are one of the most affordable HVAC services in Clearwater Florida and Pinellas county. Let me kind of explain how we do this in a couple of straight forward ways. One of the ways we pride ourselves is in be a honest HVAC company that will not try to sell you things that you do not need. I can give you a example of a job we just did in November 2025 so you can kind of see why we are a affordable HVAC service. A customer sends us a form submission on our website that her ac unit is not working so we put her on the schedule and see what’s going on with her unit. We find out that her unit was approximately 2 pounds low on refrigerant. We quote her and add the 2 pounds of r410a which came out to be approximately $180. If your system is low it typically means you have a leak somewhere. So one of the methods we use is a leak detector, what this does is wherever the refrigerant is leaking out at, our leak detector we go over and it has a sensor to sense the refrigerant leaking out and than we can find the source of where your unit is leaking. We did not find anything leaking on her system. So we said to keep a eye on her system and we added some dye into her system this time for free because she was a first time customer. What the dye does is wherever the leak is coming from the dye will leak out with it and we can shine a ultra violet light over the system and we can see where it was coming from. We signed her up on a maintenance agreement and the total out the door with the service call was around $380. Well come to find out that another company had came out to work on it Friday. She informed us that her unit was cooling on Friday and by Saturday it was 80 degrees in her home! Now 2 pounds of r410a doesn’t leak out over night and if it does its a extremely large leak where you could almost hear it. Now what it appears to have happened is where you hook up your gauges there is something called a Shrader valve and it kind of looks like what is on your bike tire. It looks like the previous company had purposefully let out her refrigerant so that she would have a problem through this Shrader valve.
